DTLS Overview
DTLS provides endpoint authentication, protecting against eavesdropping, message forgery and interference over an unreliable transport (typically UDP). DTLS operates at a higher level in the OSI stack than does IPsec. DTLS involves peer negotiation for cipher algorithm support, public key encryption-based key exchange, and certificate-based authentication.
