In an update to a previous story, Peiter “Mudge” Zatko To Join Motorola Mobility’s Advanced Technology & Projects (ATAP) at Google when he relocates to the Bay Area.
In an exclusive report from SecurityLedger, a Google representative confirmed the move.
“ATAP is skunkworks-inspired. Optimized for speed. Small, lean, resourced. With agility, freedom from bureaucratic constraints, and a willingness to embrace risk as core attributes. ATAP is focused on harnessing best-in-class, interdisciplinary talent from inside and outside Motorola Mobility, as well as technological developments from whatever the source,” according to the Motorola web site. Google bought Motorola in 2011 for $12.5 billion.
Similar to the Cyber Fast Track at DARPA, the mission of ATAP is “breakthrough innovations to the company’s product line on seemingly impossible short timeframes,” but on a corporate not government budget.
